It’s a ‘Yamas’ from Ainthorpe Primary School pupils, as part of their Ancient Greece research.

Pupils at Ainthorpe Primary School in Hull, part of David Ross Education Trust, had a chance to say ‘Yamas!’ whilst trying tasty Greek delicacies provided by the local The Greek restaurant.

The Greek, who recently opened in Hessle, were invited by Ainthorpe Primary staff to give Year 3 pupils an opportunity to try various Greek food, as part of their Ancient Greece studies. Pupils tried a range of foods, including tzatziki, olives, pitta breads and skewered meats and rated everything as ‘very delicious’.

Pupils in Year 3 are currently studying  Ancient Greece, where they have been finding out more about its history, geography, climate and culture.

Shane Davy, Headteacher at Ainthorpe Primary School, said “It’s fantastic that we can bring our Ancient Greek subject to life with a real treat!  Our students really enjoyed the food and it’s also a fantastic way for them to experience different cultures too. Thank you to The Greek restaurant and staff for visiting the school and providing such a great afternoon.”

The staff at The Greek, said “It was a fantastic afternoon for us, the children loved the experience and it was great to see them trying something new. The children gave us a five star restaurant review ‘This is the best restaurant ever’ and everyone knows how brutally honest children can be!”
