Skegness Grammar School shortlisted in Lincolnshire Media Golden Apple Education Awards

A talented student and a member of staff from Skegness Grammar School, part of the David Ross Education Trust, have been shortlisted for prestigious awards at this year’s Golden Apple Education Awards.

The Golden Apple Awards, sponsored by Lincolnshire County Council, aim to shine a spotlight on hard-working staff and students from schools across Lincolnshire.

Peter Blevins, a Year 13 student at Skegness Grammar School, has been shortlisted for the STEM Award sponsored by the University of Lincoln. Peter, who hopes to study Architecture at university, recently secured an Arkwright Engineering Scholarshipas a result of the dedication he has shown towards his studies.

Mrs Shipton-Taylor, Assistant Principal at Skegness Grammar School, nominated Peter for the STEM Award. She said:“Peter is an outstanding student. During his time at Skegness Grammar School, he has produced a number of incredible pieces as part of his coursework for Product Design, which have recently been purchased by a local company.

“Peter wholeheartedly deserves this recognition and we are incredibly proud of his achievements.”

Michelle Dales, Regional Operations Manager at the David Ross Education Trust, has also been nominated for the Secondary Teaching Assistant of the Year Award. Michelle, who has worked for the Trust since 2008, has worked tirelessly to help run a number of the Trust’s academies based in Lincolnshire.

Heather Scott, Principal at Skegness Grammar School, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for both Peter and Michelle. There were over 180 nominations for the awards this year, so to reach the final shortlist is an incredible achievement in itself.

“We are delighted that Skegness Grammar School has been recognised within this shortlist, and we hope that the panel will crown both Peter and Michelle as worthy winners on the night!”

Peter and Michelle have been invited, along with two guests, to attend the awards evening, which will take place on Monday 2ndJuly at North Kesteven Academy.
