Pupils at Northampton’s Eastfield Academy bounce their way to hundreds of pounds

Pupils from Northampton's Eastfield Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, recorded an incredible 10,868 bounces during a sponsored 'bounce-a-thon' event to help broaden the horizons of 12,000 young people across the Trust.

The primary school’s Parent-Teacher Association group, Friends of Eastfield Academy, held the Easter-themed event in a bid to raise money for the David Ross Education Trust Inspiration Fund.

The Inspiration Fund aims to enhance the Trust’s pioneering enrichment programme, by opening up new opportunities for pupils across the network’s 34 primary and secondary academies.

As part of the Trust’s all-round education at all of its schools, pupils have the chance to embrace a whole host of inspirational learning and life-skills opportunities to encourage them to explore new experiences, develop their passions and discover new talents.

From Nursery to Year 6, every pupil at Eastfield Academy played their part during the fundraising bounce event, as they had just 60 seconds to jump as many times as possible on a bouncy castle. Volunteers from Friends of Eastfield Academy were on hand as they recorded the number of bounces completed by each class.

Pupils were also joined by the Easter Bunny throughout the day, and were invited to take part in an Easter Egg hunt before completing the sponsored bounce.

Jane Clark, Deputy Headteacher at Eastfield Academy, said: “We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ efforts during Eastfield’s sponsored bounce-a-thon. There was a great atmosphere throughout the day, and I am thrilled to see that we recorded so many bounces.

“It has been fantastic to see our parents and our local community supporting the Trust’s Inspiration Fund, which will help us to provide even more outstanding opportunities for young people at Eastfield Academy and across the Trust.

“A big thank you to the Friends of Eastfield Academy Parent-Teacher Association group for organising this spectacular event. Our pupils had a fantastic time bouncing around on behalf of the Inspiration Fund!”

Although the official amount of money raised at Eastfield Academy hasn’t yet been confirmed, it is expected to total an incredible £700, with all proceeds to be donated to the Trust’s Inspiration Fund.
