Ofsted praises Northampton’s Cedar Road Primary School
Tuesday, December 5, 2017
Northampton’s Cedar Road Primary School, part of the David Ross Education Trust, has announced the findings of their latest Ofsted inspection.
Following a one-day short inspection, conducted on 17th November 2017, Ofsted judged that the school ‘continues to be good’ and praised the school for the improvements made against all previous findings during the last inspection in 2014.
The report outlines key actions and improvements made at the school. Referring to the school’s newly appointed Headteacher, Rebecca Steed, the report states that:
“The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection… You have further raised the expectations that staff have of what pupils can achieve. You and your leadership team have an accurate view of the strengths of the school and the current priorities for development.”
Rebecca Steed, Headteacher at Cedar Road Primary School, commented: “As part of the David Ross Education Trust, we are committed to consistently improving Cedar Road Primary School for our pupils.
“We have worked tirelessly to maintain our high standards and it is truly wonderful that Ofsted has acknowledged this.
“We are all very proud of this achievement and I would like to thank all our staff, pupils, parents and governors for their ongoing support.”
Ofsted also noted that:
- The school has a calm and purposeful atmosphere.
- Pupils understand the school’s values.
- Pupils’ books showed that they make strong progress from their different starting points.
- Professional 2017 information showed that by the end of Year 6, pupils achieved standards that were at least in line with those seen nationally in mathematics. They also exceeded those seen nationally in reading and writing. Pupils, by the end of Year 6, made progress that was in the top 10% of that seen nationally in reading in 2016 and in the top 20% in writing 2017.
Cedar Road Primary School has been part of the David Ross Education Trust since 2012. As a leading multi-academy trust, it is committed to giving every child a world-class education.
Rebecca Steed added: “The support of our Trust has been invaluable. Our pupils have had access to educational, musical and sporting enrichment opportunities that would otherwise not have been possible.
“We are very pleased by the results of this inspection and we look forward to reaching our goal of becoming Outstanding.”
