Pupils and staff at Hull’s Ainthorpe Primary School, part of the David Ross Education Trust, welcomed their local MP, Emma Hardy, to the school to discuss a number of local and global issues.

During her visit, Emma was given a tour of the school and conducted of workshops where pupils were able to find out more about Emma’s role as a member of parliament.

The Labour MP for Hull West and Hessle spent time speaking to pupils from Years 3 and 4 who, following a school trip to Spurn Point and the school’s participation in World Oceans Day, seized the opportunity to share their views on plastic pollution and promote solutions for healthy oceans.

Following the visit to Ainthorpe Primary School, Emma tweeted: “Thank you so much for inviting me. They were all so lovely and well behaved.”

Shane Davy, Principal at Ainthorpe Primary School, said:“We were delighted to have the opportunity to welcome Emma Hardy to our school.

“Our pupils asked a variety of passionate, informed and insightful questions about the environment and plastic pollution. This truly highlights how, as a school, we are creating outstanding community citizens who care about the world in which they live.”
