Funds raised in memory of teaching assistant at Eastfield Academy

Staff, pupils and friends of Eastfield Academy in Northampton have raised almost £200 at their Winter Fair in memory of Sue Jeffrey, a teaching assistant at the school who passed away in 2018.
Sue sadly lost her battle with cancer whilst working at Eastfield Academy, which is part of the David Ross Education Trust. The money raised will go to The Lewis Foundation, a charity supporting cancer patients in local hospitals whilst they are undergoing treatment. The Foundation provides patients with ‘gift packs’ comprising activities, treats, magazines and high calorie foods.
Lee Lewis from The Lewis Foundation said: “This money will help us buy 55 gifts for people receiving treatment in hospital. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at Eastfield Academy for supporting The Lewis Foundation!”
Clair Mills, Headteacher at Eastfield Academy, said “Staff and pupils wanted to do something in Sue’s memory and so it is fitting that we are helping cancer patients during very difficult times. It is important to us that our pupils understand how they can support our wider community and we look forward to continuing to work with the Lewis Foundation.”
