A pupil at Market Harborough’s Bringhurst Primary School, part of the David Ross Education Trust, has had her long locks cut off in the name of charity.

8-year-old Rosie Smith has donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs for children who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment or other illnesses.

As well as donating her hair, the Year 3 pupil has raised an incredible £200 so far, which will help the charity to purchase further wigs tailored to each child’s individual needs.

Angela Watson, Headteacher at Bringhurst Primary School, said: “As a school, we firmly believe in encouraging our pupils to become outstanding citizens that our communities can be proud of.

“We encourage all of our pupils to contribute to their local communities and charities, whether this is by taking part in community challenges or by hosting a number of fundraising events throughout the year.

“We are all so proud of the generosity and thoughtfulness Rosie has shown. It is incredibly heartwarming to see that her kindness is being spread further to help other children.”
