Bobby Moore Academy welcomes Head of Primary to brand new school

As Bobby Moore Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, prepares to welcome its first group of Reception pupils in September 2018, the school is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Head of Primary.

Ms Rachel Mardenborough, an outstanding teacher and senior leader who has worked at some of London’s top performing primaries across Hackney, Westminster and Newham, will be responsible for delivering a world-class education for pupils at the brand new primary school.

Making the most of the state-of-the art facilities and spacious outdoor learning areas at Bobby Moore Academy’s Primary School building, which is based on Marsh Lane,Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Ms Mardenborough will provide a creative and inspiring early years curriculum for her pupils.

With over 15 years teaching experience and a strong track record for her leadership, Ms Mardenborough has an extensive knowledge of the national curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage in particular. This included her role as Deputy Headteacher at Ark Atwood Primary Academy, a new school that opened in Westminster in 2011, that was awarded an ‘Outstanding’ judgement across all categories during its second year.

In addition to her range of experience in primary schools and nursery settings across London, Ms Mardenborough, whose teaching is also rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, has provided support and guidance for an independent start up school in New Delhi. This has included serving on the Board of Directors, where she has been instrumental in setting up whole school systems and delivering training and advice for staff as the school continues to grow and develop.

Throughout her teaching career she has taught across the Primary Key Stages and has a wealth of leadership experience and knowledge.

Following her appointment as Head of Primary at Bobby Moore Academy, Ms Mardenborough said: “I am thrilled to be joining Bobby Moore Academy at such an exciting time in the school’s journey.

“It will be a pleasure to welcome our very first Reception pupils and their parents to our school community in September. We have some fabulous school facilities and an innovative early years curriculum that will offer the perfect environment for our pupils to begin their school careers.” 

This is an exciting time for Bobby Moore Academy, the brand new through school, which is set in the heart of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. After opening its doors to 120 Year 7 students in September 2017, the primary school will welcome its first Reception classes in September 2018.
