1500 students from across the ‘David Ross Education Trust’ compete in the 7th annual Summer Cup

Pupils from across the David Ross Education Trust participated in the 7th annual Summer Cup. The event was held at the Grantham Meres Stadium in Lincolnshire and saw 1500 students aged 8 – 19, from 33 academies participate in several events including, swimming, table tennis, athletics and hockey in a bid to secure the prestigious Summer Cup 2019 title.
The event was also supported by GB legends and elite athletes Jenny Meadows, Margaret Adeoye, Marlon Devonish and Joe Roebuck, all of which have represented team GB at an Olympic Games, and boast an array of medals between them. While BBC commentator and former Olympic Hurdler and world record holder Colin Jackson CBE returned to host the event for his 3rd year.
Colin Jackson CBE, said ‘It’s a pleasure to be invited back again for another year. I love attending and being able to see so many pupils enjoying and excelling in sport, whilst supporting one another and giving their all for their school and team mates. I’m already looking forward to next year and seeing how the pupils have progressed’.
The secondary school winners of the Summer Cup for the 6th year in a row and retaining their title is Malcolm Arnold Academy. Second place was awarded to Humberston Academy and third place to Skegness Grammar School. The winners of the Primary Cup this year were Bringhurst Primary School with Cedar Road Academy coming in at second place and Fairfield Academy in third place.
