WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT INSPIRATION AWARDS FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE 2022

On 23 June 2022, the winners of the fifth annual David Ross Education Trust Inspiration Awards for Teaching & Excellence were announced during a virtual awards ceremony that was live streamed to all DRET schools.

The Inspiration Awards provides educators, staff and pupils across the David Ross Education Trust the opportunity to celebrate and commend the outstanding work of 1,800 exceptional teachers, teaching assistants, support staff and leaders across a nationwide network of 34 academies. Staff rooms from London to Hull were filled with excited teachers waving DRET flags and celebrating this year’s Awards with their colleagues near and far.

The Inspiration Awards are funded by sponsors’ donations, and proceeds go to the Trust’s Inspiration Fund, which enables the David Ross Education Trust to provide life-changing and character-building enrichment opportunities to 13,000 state school pupils across the country. A wide range of opportunities made possible by the Inspiration Fund are normally only available to pupils in fee-paying or public schools, including talent support programmes, bursaries, flagship competitions and events, specialist tutoring or coaching, and much more.

Stuart Burns, Chief Executive Officer at the David Ross Education Trust, said:

“This year has been another exceptional one for all of those working across education. I am so proud of all our staff and their tireless efforts to give pupils the very best education.

It is wonderful to see that those efforts have been recognised nationally and it’s also important to take time to celebrate the extraordinary work of teachers, teaching assistants, support staff and leaders together.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all our sponsors for making this virtual awards ceremony possible so that we could include all our staff.”

Ali Guryel, Managing Director of Bromcom, stated:

“We are honoured to have sponsored the fifth edition of the David Ross Education Trust Inspiration Awards for Teaching and Excellence.

We have worked with DRET for several years and have witnessed, first-hand, the transformative effect they have on young people’s lives.

Our joint Bromcom-DRET Development Partnership Programme has benefitted both parties immeasurably and allowed the Trust to harness the true power of an MIS, to maximise their outcomes.

My sincerest congratulations to all the winners, you truly are an inspiration to the entire education community.”

Joanne Nunney, Divisional Director at Caterlink, said:

“As their lead catering partner across the UK, Caterlink are delighted to once more be sponsoring the Inspiration Awards for David Ross Education Trust. We thoroughly enjoy working with 29 of the Trust schools up and down the country, day in, day out, and are very proud to be supporting these awards, which highlight the fantastic achievements of your teams.”

About the Inspiration Fund

The DRET Inspiration Fund creates life-changing experiences for over 13,000 young people in our schools.

Our award-winning programme helps our students to develop their passions and discover their talents through access to the very best in sports, music, culture and outward-bound activities.

Thanks to the Inspiration Fund, our enrichment programme is at the heart of our organisation and encourages students to become confident, well-rounded young people who will be valued members of society. According to our students and their parents, the outstanding opportunities we are able to offer is one of the hallmarks of a Trust education.

We are proud to be able to say that ours is the only programme of its kind in the state sector and gives our students access to the kinds of life-changing experiences normally only available at independent fee-paying schools. The Inspiration Fund is what enables us to deliver these opportunities to our students.#
