Students at Charnwood College scoop top marks in A Levels
Sixth form students at Loughborough’s Charnwood College, part of the David Ross Education Trust are celebrating after receiving their long-awaited A-Level results today.
Alastair O’Connor, Principal at Charnwood College, said:
“We are delighted with the achievements of the students; our mission is to broaden the horizons of young people through a world class education and we have certainly done that. We are very proud of our Head Boy, Joel, and Deputy Head Boy, Adam, who are now going onto Oxford and Manchester University with some great results behind them and a very bright future. We are excited to celebrate with students and their families at our excellence evening on Wednesday 11th September.”
There were plenty of smiles, hugs, laughter and tears of joy this morning at Charnwood College, as students opened their A-level results. Joel Dungworth is celebrating today after achieving 3 A* in Biology, English, Geography. Joel has accepted a place at Oxford University studying English Language and Literature. Adam Bademosi was another high flyer with 3 As in Biology, Psychology, and French, accepting a place at Manchester University studying French and Japanese. Liam Johnson also celebrated with A*, A, and B in PE, Maths, Physics. Liam has accepted a place at Loughborough University studying Engineering and Physics. Dhavina Contractor achieved A, B, and B in English, Psychology, History, and has accepted a place at Leicester University studying English.
Graham Heffernan, Head of Sixth Form at Charnwood College, said:
“The improvement in overall pass rate is well deserved. Students have had a wonderful all-round education. The year group have experienced trips to St Vincent in the Caribbean, Prague, and Berlin. They have won six national titles and are now celebrating some great results with some exciting next destinations. These include Oxford University, other Russell group universities, and the Universities of Loughborough and Leicester. We also have 18 students taking up sporting scholarships in the United States.”
Mohammed Aljaf was thrilled with his results of (D*D D) OCR Technical Sport Triple Award, that secured him a place to study Sport and Football, and a football sporting scholarship at Angelina College in Texas, USA. The 17 students from the academy’s elite basketball programme who won six national titles earlier in the year have also accepted full sporting scholarships in various colleges and universities in the United States.
Joel, Head boy at Charnwood College, said:
“I am delighted with my results – it’s a bit surreal at the moment but I can’t wait to go out and celebrate. I am really happy that the hard work paid off, and I am so thankful for all the effort my teachers and all the staff at Charnwood College have put in to help me over my seven years here.”
Adam, Deputy Head boy at Charnwood College, said:
“I am very happy with my results, and they wouldn’t have been possible without the massive amount of help and support from my teachers.”
