Local Vice Principal Prepares to Run Marathon in aid of the David Ross Education Trust Inspiration Fund

Ruth Roberts, Vice Principal at Lodge Park Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, is running the Milton Keynes Marathon in May in aid of the DRET Inspiration Fund. The Inspiration Fund creates life-changing experiences for over 13,000 young people across England attending DRET schools. The award-winning programme helps students to develop their passions and discover their talents through access to the very best in sports, music, culture and outward-bound activities.
The enrichment programme at the David Ross Education Trust is at the heart of the organisation and encourages students to become confident, well-rounded young people who will be valued members of society. According to our students and their parents, the outstanding opportunities on offer are one of the hallmarks of a DRET education.
The DRET Inspiration Fund is the only programme of its kind in the state sector and gives students access to the kinds of life-changing experiences normally only available at independent fee-paying schools. Especially after a year when enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities have been halted, the Inspiration Fund will be providing much-needed funding that will not only help pupils become more well-rounded people but will also benefit their social and emotional health.
This will be Ruth’s fourth marathon, and she also regularly takes part in half marathons and Wolf Runs. Ruth has already surpassed her target of £300 with 46 days left to go, and any further support would be greatly appreciated. All of the donations will positively impact the lives and opportunities available to students at LPA and the Corby community. Ruth Roberts, Vice Principal at Lodge Park Academy, said:
“Running for the Inspiration Fund seems such a natural thing to do as it offers all our students the opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have. I have seen the positive impact on students at Lodge Park Academy, who have had sporting and music opportunities provided by the fund and how it raises their aspirations.”
Alice Page, Fundraising & Events Manager, at the David Ross Education Trust, said:
“A huge thank you to Ruth for setting up this wonderful fundraiser. The Inspiration Fund relies on donations and plays an enormous role in offering one-of-a-kind opportunities for our students. The money that Ruth has raised will be used to offer our pupils a range of exciting opportunities and help children find their passions. We wish Ruth good luck in her marathon – we will be cheering her on every step of the way!”
