DRET’s Annual Christmas Card Competition
Over the festive period, the David Ross Education Trust invited pupils to create artwork depicting “feelings of Christmas.” Putting their creative (Santa) hats on, 70 students submitted entries to the competition, each one filled with wonderfully creative ideas.
The best cards were put forward by teachers, and then a selection panel made up of the DRET board of directors picked out winning designs in several categories: Secondary Artwork, Primary Artwork, Secondary Digital/Photography, and Adult design, which includes artwork in any material including digital. Our founder David Ross himself chose the final winning design for the Secondary Artwork category.
The winners in each category were: Aayush (The Arbours Primary Academy) won the Primary Category, Quin (Malcolm Arnold Academy) won the Secondary, Anya (Charnwood College) won the Secondary Digital/Photography category, and finally, Hannah Price, teacher at Malcolm Arnold Academy, won the Adult category.
The competition was sponsored by Simply Education, Vision for Education and Oracle Solutions, whose generosity will support the DRET Inspiration Fund, which creates life-changing experiences for over 13,000 young people across DRET schools. The award-winning programme helps our students to develop their passions and discover their talents through access to the very best in sports, music, culture and outward-bound activities.
Stuart Burns, CEO of the David Ross Education Trust, said:
“We are extremely grateful for the generosity and support of Simply Education, Vision for Education and Oracle Solutions, who each sponsored a category of the competition in aid of the Trust’s Inspiration Fund. We would also like to thank all of our fabulous students who participated in this year’s Christmas Card Competition and give a special congratulations to the winners! Every entry was fantastic and we already look forward to seeing more amazing designs next year!”
