Admission numbers increase at local Northampton schools

16 April 2021 – With the National Offer Day for primary schools, millions of parents find out today which school their child will be joining in September. Cedar Road Primary School and Greenfields Primary School and Nursery, both in Northampton and part of David Ross Education Trust, have seen a significant increase in their admission numbers for September 2021.

Greenfields Primary School was successfully rated ‘Outstanding’ during their Ofsted inspection in March 2020. With the ‘outstanding’ rating in every section of the report, the school has attracted more students than ever, with nearly 49% increase on 2020 admissions. Similarly, Cedar Road Primary Primary has seen a 48% increase in their admissions for September 2021.

As part of the Trust, both schools have amazing enrichment opportunities to offer to their students, including music and sports. Every year, students have an opportunity to take part in a theatre experience, delivered from partners at the Royal and Derngate Theatre. Students also have a chance to meet their sporting idols with school visits from Olympic athletes including Mark Lewis-Frances. Both schools have been recognised for their ambitious curriculum and the leaders hope that it inspires the students to do the best they can.

Mrs Sandra Appleby, Headteacher at Greenfields Primary School, said:

“I am delighted  to see that more students will be joining us in September of this year. I’m sure that our students will give everyone a very warm welcome and I look forward to meeting both students and their parents in the new academic year.”

Mr Rhys Jones-Penny, Headteacher and Cedar Road Primary School, said:

“We do a lot of great work at Cedar Road, so it’s excellent to see that prospective parents can see how our school can help their children with their education and development. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in September 2021”
