“Community is at the heart of the Trust at every level. Our partnerships, our culture and our commitment to the communities that we serve, define who we are and how we set about achieving our objectives and our aspirations.”

Richard Williams, Director of Academic Studies

Supporting our communities

Through family days, fundraising initiatives, community projects and by opening our doors to allow individuals to use our facilities, our academies are rooted to their communities.

In 2016, the Trust ran, for example, a series of Family Fun Days at  a number of secondary academies to thank the community for their support and to celebrate our student’s achievements.

Strengthening the DRET community

While results and educational outcomes have strengthened, such success is not achieved through the skills and abilities of our teaching staff alone. The work of all of the Trust’s support services has strengthened, giving senior leaders and educationalists the platform and freedom to focus on the outcomes of our students.

Recent highlights have included:

  • Supporting numerous building projects through the Endowment Fund provided by the sponsor, the David Ross Foundation.
  • Significant investment in IT provision, including the development of a professional social network for staff.
  • The creation of a new Governance Handbook, helping to harness the power of our governing bodies
Our partnerships

The Trust would not be able to deliver on our academic and enrichment aspirations without the continued support and dedication of our partners.

Partnerships with schools from the independent sector have, for example, continued to flourish. Internationally renowned organisations have provided outstanding academic and enrichment opportunities and higher education establishments have helped inspire and raise aspiration.

Our partners include:
