Northampton’s Cedar Road Primary School, part of the David Ross Education Trust, received the Top School Award for the Summer Reading Challenge at Abington Library in Northampton.

Each year the library provides a reading challenge for children to read six books over the summer. This is the fourth consecutive year that Cedar Road Primary School has won the award for the most students completing the challenge.

Becky Steed, Headteacher at Cedar Road Primary School, said: “We are so proud that our students chose to read throughout the summer holiday. Reading is such a critical skill for all children to learn and it is one we work hard to encourage in the home and on holidays too.

We provide our students with challenging and exciting reading lists in every year group and daily class novel books too. At our school and across our Trust, we want all of our children to grow up loving reading.”
