A group of lucky A-Level art students from Malcolm Arnold Academy recently visited a number of inspirational art galleries in London.
During an overnight trip, fifteen Sixth Form students had the opportunity to explore exhibitions at the iconic National Portrait Gallery, Tate Modern and the Saatchi Gallery.
The students took park in a number of workshops where they discovered different painting techniques from a variety of artists.
Hannah Prince, Teacher of Art at Malcolm Arnold Academy, accompanied students during the overnight stay. She said: “A real highlight was the Saatchi Gallery, as students benefited from a fantastic tour to help develop their contextual research by observing artwork.”
Following the gallery visits, students were encouraged to advance their own practice as they travelled to famous London landmarks with their sketchbooks in hand.
Susanna Kemp, DRET Secondary Enrichment Coordinator, said: “This has been an incredible opportunity for students to explore some of the UK’s most impressive galleries.
“As well as preparing them for their forthcoming exams, it has also encouraged the students to discover their talents and develop their passions.”
