A team of four table tennis players from Corby Glen’s Charles Read Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, has been selected to represent England in the prestigious 2018 International School Sport Federation (ISF) World School’s Table Tennis Championships.
Darcie Proud, Mollie Patterson, Danielle Kelly and Karrie Rogers will travel to Malta for the week-long tournament, which will be held between 8th and 14th April 2018, where they will compete against young table tennis players from 18 countries including China, France, Japan and Germany.
Three of the four team members that will compete at the championships are currently scholars at Charles Read’s Table Tennis Performance Centre, where each scholar can train for up to 25 hours a week both inside and outside of school time with elite coaches.
Robert Sloan, Principal at Charles Read Academy, said: “We are incredibly proud to host a number of extremely talented students at Charles Read Academy.
“Being invited to the World Championships and representing England is an incredible opportunity for our students.
“We are absolutely thrilled for the girls and I have no doubt that they will go far within the competition.”
