DRET Music Cup video launched

This year’s Music Cup brought together musicians from the across the David Ross Education Trust’s (DRET) secondary academies.
The annual competition, which was held at Kelham Hall in Nottinghamshire, saw over 450 students take to the stage for a variety of musical performances including vocal solos, instrumental ensembles and academy choirs.
A video showcasing some of the outstanding performances from the event has now been published.
After impressing the panel of judges, Malcolm Arnold Academy emerged victorious and retained the Music Cup title for the fourth year in a row.
Simon Toyne, Executive Director of Music at DRET, said: “It was thrilling to see the students perform with such enthusiasm and skill throughout the course of the competition, and to see the standard of music-making rise to impressive levels.
“Music is such an important part of our students’ lives, so this event is a great way to encourage their love of music through sharing it with others and learning from each other.
“We are extremely grateful to all the students and staff for their hard work throughout – it was an amazing day for all involved.”
