Nigel Saxby

Head of Finance and Procurement

I joined the Trust in 2012 to lead the Finance and Procurement team.

As part of my role, I am responsible for working with the academies from the point of conversion, to enable them to maximize the resources that are available to them.

Over the last few years, as the Trust has grown, I have also worked across the network to increase efficiencies and ensure that the academies have a sustainable future.

This has included securing significant additional funding for a number of academies to enhance the educational offer, as well as reviewing our procurement processes and procedures to secure the best value for money across the Trust.

Working alongside the Director of Finance, I am also responsible for ensuring that the Trust remains compliant with its financial statutory requirements.

With three children at school I appreciate the huge importance of a good education. I am proud that as a Trust we are committed to doing the best we can for all of our students, encouraging them to achieve their full potential, wherever their talents may lie.

 

Career history

Nigel has worked in the accountancy profession for over 21 years.

Prior to joining the Trust, Nigel built up extensive experience in the education sector, developing a particular specialism with academies.

This has included supporting new convertors, sponsored academies, multi academy trusts, primary schools, secondary schools and special schools.

As part of this Nigel has assisted with the design and introduction of new systems, month end reporting, bookkeeping issues, training of finance staff, and the preparation of and audit of year end statutory accounts.

Nigel is a Member of the Association of Certified Accountants and he is currently undertaking a Certificate of School Business Management. He is also a governor at a local primary school.
