I joined the Trust in 2011 and am currently the Academy Improvement Lead for secondary academies across Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.
As a System Leader, my role involves providing training, support and challenge to the headteachers, senior leadership teams, staff and governors across our cluster in order to ensure the best quality education for all students.
Supporting a dedicated and enthusiastic team of staff, I am proud to have led the team at Humberston Academy to achieve the highest GCSE results in the local authority in 2016, which placed the academy in the 14th percentile on student progress nationally.
The appeal of working in education is the fortunate position we hold to influence and develop young people, especially seeing them develop into ‘well rounded’ and educated individuals who are equipped with the skills and knowledge for the next stage of their lives.
Matt is currently Principal at Humberston Academy and has worked in education for thirteen years, most of which time has been spent at a senior level.
His senior leadership experience has involved working with colleagues in various settings, predominantly in schools that have experienced challenging circumstances, ranging from an underperforming secondary modern school in Lincolnshire and a coastal school with high deprivation and a notice to improve.
The biggest challenge Matt faced was joining a coasting school, which had been placed into special measures and moving the school to Outstanding.
This range of experience has allowed Matt to build up a strong understanding of leadership and school improvement.
Matt’s areas of specialism include the use of data, assessment and the curriculum in school improvement strategies.
