I joined the Trust in 2011 and am currently Director of Secondary Education.
Supporting a dedicated and enthusiastic team of staff, I am proud to have led the team at Humberston Academy during my role as Principal to achieve the highest GCSE results in the local authority in 2017, which placed the academy in the 8th percentile on student progress nationally.
The appeal of working in education is the fortunate position we hold to influence and develop young people, especially seeing them develop into ‘well rounded’ and educated individuals who are equipped with the skills and knowledge for the next stage of their lives.
Matt has worked in education for thirteen years, most of which time has been spent at a senior level.
His senior leadership experience has involved working with colleagues in various settings, predominantly in schools that have experienced challenging circumstances, ranging from an underperforming secondary modern school in Lincolnshire and a coastal school with high deprivation and a notice to improve.
The biggest challenge Matt faced was joining a coasting school, which had been placed into special measures and moving the school to Outstanding.
This range of experience has allowed Matt to build up a strong understanding of leadership and school improvement.
Matt’s areas of specialism include the use of data, assessment and the curriculum in school improvement strategies.
