Mark Ibbertson

Director of Finance

I joined the Trust at the very beginning of its journey, when Havelock Academy became the first DRET academy in 2007.

As part of the core team that established the Trust, it has been a privilege to see our network grow from one to over 30 academies.

With responsibility for ensuring the financial security of the Trust, I work alongside the academies to set the Trust-wide annual budget, providing financial support and guidance to our senior leaders. My team also maintains statutory financial records and the Annual Report and Statement of Accounts.

I firmly believe that our organisation has a crucial role in transforming the life chances of young people within the communities that we serve.

Working with children and their families and encouraging pupils, whatever their backgrounds, to believe in themselves, aim high and achieve their ambitions, is a vital part of what we do. 

Career history

Mark is a qualified accountant and has extensive experience in educational finance, having spent many years providing support and guidance for maintained schools in local education areas around the country.

Mark was critical to the successful creation of the Trust’s first two academies, Havelock Academy and Malcolm Arnold Academy, and now leads the Trust’s Finance team.

Mark is Qualified with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and has experience in educational finance in Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and the North East.
