James Russell

Director of Communications and Public Affairs

James joined the Trust in July 2017 as Director of Communications and Public Affairs.

As a member of the Trust’s executive management team, James is responsible for leading and developing the strategic communications and policy activities of the Trust at local and national levels.  Core to this is providing communications and policy advisory expertise to amplify the impact and influence of the Trust’s voice by promoting social mobility through the power of education.

James also has responsibility, along with the rest of the executive team, for the development and delivery of the Trust’s strategy, objectives and business plan.

Career history

James is a senior communications leader who brings to the Trust extensive experience of delivering strategic communications and sustainability programmes that enhance reputations and strengthen private and not-for-profit stakeholder engagement.

He is a Member of the Board of Trustees of In2ScienceUK, an award-winning charity whose work closes the education gap that exists between the richest and poorest in society and supports young people from low income backgrounds to become the innovators and pioneers of the future.
