I became the Trust’s Director of Operations in August 2014.
I am responsible for ensuring that the Trust and its academies benefit from the best working environments and processes. This includes identifying commercial opportunities and introducing and managing Trust-wide contracts, most notably this has included establishing Trust-wide catering facilities and a central payments function.
Overseeing the estates team, I also lead on transformational building projects, including new builds and refurbishments as well as maximising use of the sporting facilities across our academies.
Over the last few years, it has been incredible to see the impact of our building projects. Smaller academies, such as Hogsthorpe, Bringhurst and Newnham now offer inspirational learning settings for our pupils.
In Hull, in 2015, Wold Academy and Ainthorpe Primary School also moved into brand new schools to replace the old Victorian buildings that were no longer fit for purpose.
Seeing young people progress from their various starting points and knowing that DRET has made a difference really makes what I do worthwhile.
The fact that we are genuinely giving young people opportunities that they would not otherwise have access to, is something really special.
